What affects your estimate, what details to send, and how to compare the work—not just the price. Use this checklist before requesting a quote for your Treasure Coast property.
Land clearing, grading, or excavation: what do you need?
Start with the result you want. Land clearing addresses brush and overgrowth. Grading reshapes the ground for a planned finish. Excavation involves digging and removing material. A project can need more than one service, so describe the problem instead of worrying about choosing the perfect label. Tell us whether you want an overgrown lot opened up, a rough yard prepared for sod, or an access path improved.
What affects the cost of land clearing?
Area is only one part of an estimate. The density of vegetation, material that needs to be removed, access for equipment, and the finish you want all affect the scope. Clearing light underbrush is different from removing larger material and hauling it away. Send approximate dimensions or acreage if you know them, but do not delay your request if you need help assessing the site. Onshore provides a project-specific quote rather than an unsupported flat price per acre.
Include the cleanup and finished result
Decide what you want left behind. Is the goal an accessible wooded lot, cleared ground for a later project, or a surface ready for the next contractor? Ask whether the estimate includes loading, hauling, disposal, additional material, and final grading. Two quotes can cover different work even when both say land clearing. Compare the scope before comparing the total.
What to send for a grading or driveway estimate
Describe the current surface and what is happening: ruts, uneven ground, loose material, or water collecting after rain. Include the approximate length and width, how you use the area, and any planned surface material. Photographs of both the problem and the wider property help explain the setting. A site visit may still be needed before the approach and price can be confirmed.
Photos and access details that help
Take a wide photo of the work area, a closer photo of the main problem, and a photo of the route equipment would use.
